For my Computer Science BSc (Hons) degree at NTU, the development of a web-based database linked Content Management System (CMS) to enable Graduates to display their collection of work online (E-Portfolio) was chosen as my final year project.
It was discovered based on research findings that many CMS were complex in nature and therefore, difficult for those who do not have the technical skills to use them efficiently. Therefore an investigation took place leading to the proposal of a new development for a content management system that will help in allowing graduates to share their work online by focusing on simplicity, usability and accessibility whilst ensuring the core functionality that make up a CMS were there.
The system was then implemented using the key mark-up and programming languages to make a full website including HTML, CSS and JavaScript for the front-end, and PHP and MYSQL (database system) for the back-end. The work was managed by following the agile methodology.
The CMS that was created for this project can be viewed here »
